Stinson Beach Retreat is a zen-inspired, contemporary vacation home designed for devout Buddhists located in a coastal town sandwiched between the Marin Hills and Bolinas Lagoon. The owners, a pair of San Francisco tech executives, purchased the home built in the 1960s and knew some major updates were in their future. They hired John Kleman of Kleman Design to create their serene retreat that focuses on indoor/outdoor living with help from LaCantina.

Installing moveable walls of glass were crucial in creating the minimalist indoor/outdoor design for this 1,700 square foot dwelling. LaCantina’s Multi Slide System spans over 18 feet to seamlessly connect the rear of the house to the deck and frames uninterrupted views of Buddha. Kleman refers to LaCantina’s line of Aluminum Thermally Controlled Folding and Multi Slide Systems as “very crisp and contemporary” and perfect for enhancing the home.

“LaCantina is my go-to spec,” explains Kleman, who used an eight-foot-wide three panel LaCantina Aluminum Thermally Controlled Folding System in the garage and a six-foot-wide, two panel LaCantina Multi Slide System in the master bedroom. “I like them because they operate very well and have a good reputation for durability and weather tightness.”

“The result is a place of deep serenity in which sunlight, ocean air and uncluttered views become the center of one’s experience,” says Kleman.
