This 1950s Contemporary riverfront home was beautifully renovated and transformed into an upscale, energy efficient, and modern minimalist retreat for a well-traveled Australian couple. A LaCantina folding door system seamlessly connects the large living room with the expanse of natural beauty behind the home.

The front of the home maintains its 1950s Contemporary roots while the back, facing the river, opens up to abundant natural light and river views through a modern expanse of glass walls. Large openings created by both folding glass doors and lift and slide glass doors help deliver an elegant, effortless indoor outdoor lifestyle for the homeowners.

The interior spaces are stripped down to the bare essentials: glass, white walls, and natural wood. Energy efficiency was a top priority; the renovation ultimately met the strict guidelines for ENERGY STAR® V-3 Certification and boasted a Home Energy Rating System (HERS®) Index Score of 23, an outstanding indication of environmental friendliness, high comfort level, and energy savings.

An Aluminum Thermally Controlled folding door system from LaCantina blends the large main living area with the patio and lush yard beyond, creating one ongoing, open space.

The home features rooms of different heights and volumes that flow into each other and keep the attention focused on the incredible view at the rear of the home: a bold, ever-changing green and blue landscape of trees, sky, and water.
