Created for a family of five, this contemporary home was designed and constructed to be both minimalist and kid-friendly. Multiple entry points offer connection to outdoor spaces, with plenty of shaded areas in the daytime. One of the biggest highlights? A LaCantina multi slide door system that completely disappears into the wall, leaving the space between the main living area and outdoor terrace fully open.

To create an impressive yet easy connection between living area and terrace, AAHA Studio wanted a door system that would allow the greatest opening size, a flexibility of details, and a flush sill at a cost-effective price point.

They chose LaCantina’s Aluminum Thermally Controlled Multi Slide system with a pocketing configuration to create a very large opening — approximately 23’ wide by 10’ tall — that provides effortless flow from the interior great room to the exterior backyard.

The multi slide system’s door tracks sit flush in the poured concrete floors, for a seamless transition. The door panels pocket into a poured-in-place concrete column, so that the opening between spaces is fully realized.

When the system is closed, the main living area is drenched in natural daylight with a full view of the backyard terrace greenery and the sky beyond.

In the evenings, waning daylight and cool breezes combine to create a dynamic space for relaxing or entertaining.
